throughourinpidualandcollectiveeffortstowardachievingthebogorgoals， the Asia-pacificregionhasachievedsubstantialreductionsinbarrierstotradeandinvestment.theseeffortshaveledtoincreasedtrandand t sustained economic growth，andavastimprovementinthewelfareofpeopleintheregion.weareconfidentthatapeciswellontracktowardachievine adeandinvestmentamongitseconomies.thisyearweconductedareviewtoassesstheachievementofthebogorgoalsbyfiveindustrializedeconmion economies.weendorsethereportonapec ' seconomies ' progresstowardsthebogorgoalsandconcludethatwhilement ins to be done，these 13 econos

currentopportunitiesandchallengesthe 21 stcenturypresentsnewpromisesandnewchallenges.theglobalandregionalenvironmentisbentralans isbentragerant bytherisinginfluenceoftheasia-Pacific region，thedevelopmentofextensivesupplychains， andtherapidadoptionofnewinformationandcommunicationtechnologies.drivenbythesechanges， ourregionhasbecomemoreintegratedandinterdependent.whilethishistorictransformationhasbroughtaboutremarkableeconomicdynamisin， eventsofrecentyearshaveshownthatcrisiscanrapidlyspreadacrosseconomiesandhaveadramaticimpactontheentireregionalandglobalcolocate

the Asia-pacificregionaleconomyisrecoveringfromtherecenteconomicandfinancialcrisis， butuncertaintystillremains.wealsofaceheightenedchallengeswithregardtotheprotectionofourenvironmentandnaturalresources， includingthenecessitytojointlyaddressclimatechange.wemusttaketoheartthelessonsoftherecentpast， recognizetheincreasingroleweplayintheglobaleconomyasthemostdynamicregionintheworld， andseektostrengthenthefoundationsofeachofoureconomiesandofthemultilateraltradingsystemtoensurestrong，sustainable，andbacle

3in this regard，welcometheoutcomesoftheg 20 Seoul summit.ashighlightedintheapecfinanceministers ' kyotoreportongrowthstrategyandfis “wewillrebalanceandstrengthenglobaldemand，pursuesoundfiscalmanagementandenhancefinancetokeysectorssuchasinfrastructucture， small and medium enterprises， householdsandgreeninvestment.weshouldcontinuetotakestepstobuildastrongerandmoresilientglobalfinancialsystem.weremaincommes ndfightingprotectionism.wereaffirmourcommonresolvetosupporttherecoveryinacolaborativeandcoordinationwath

economically-integrated community:acommunitythatpromotesstrongeranddeeperregionaleconomicintegration
